EAST NORRITON, PA - An early morning fire in the cafeteria of Norristown High School lead to a late start and confusion for parents and students. Crews were dispatched to the school at 5:55am and once on scene confirmed a working building fire. According to Jefferson Fire Company No. 1, additional resources were immediately dispatched. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and minimized the damage.
The school modified the schedule and all students will be able to eat lunch as planned today with a late start to the day. According to school officials, the school has resumed normal operations as of late morning and students will not be penalized for the late arrival if they missed the message about the change in bussing times.
According to Jefferson Fire Company, the following agencies provided mutual aid: Lower Providence Fire Department, Norriton Fire Engine Company, Worcester Volunteer Fire Department, Norristown Fire Department, Norristown Professional Firefighters Local 2335, Plymouth Community Ambulance Association - Medic 308, West Norriton Township Police Department, West Norriton Township, Upper Merion Township Fire & EMS, Bridgeport Fire Department, Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Co., PA State Police
