Plymouth Police Release Offical Press Statement on Barricade Situation

Updated: Jan 15, 2021

PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA - Multiple jurisdictions in Montgomery County, Chester County, and the State of New York have been conducting a joint investigation of persons involved in armed robberies and thefts from Gas Stations. As a result of the ongoing investigation, a search warrant was applied for and approved by the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas.

On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, members of the Montgomery County SWAT – Central team executed the search warrant at 1975 Johnson Road, Plymouth Township. At the time of the initial search warrant execution, 1 male and 3 females, including one female carrying a small child, exited the residence and surrendered to Police without incident. One additional male, identified as Willie Floyd Singletary III, refused to exit the residence and surrender to Police.

Negotiators from the Montgomery County SWAT – Central team spent more than five hours negotiating with Singletary attempting to convince him to peacefully surrender. During this time, Singletary repeatedly threatened the lives of Law Enforcement operating on the scene and also threatened to light the house on fire. At approximately 2:45pm, Singletary exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

The preliminary investigation into Willie Floyd Singletary III revealed that he is currently wanted by the Philadelphia Police Department for Homicide. The multi-jurisdictional investigation of armed robberies and thefts as well as the investigation of Willie Floyd Singletary III is active and ongoing.

During this incident, nearby residents were evacuated from their homes or chose to shelter in place in safe locations inside their homes.
