On September 20, 2019, off-duty firefighter Kevin Ambs was traveling near the 200 block of Germantown Pike when he came upon a car accident. One of the vehicles involved caught fire. Firefighter Ambs stopped his personal car, hopped over the barrier and pulled the disoriented female driver to safety just before the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames. The female stated she was disoriented from the crash and airbag deployment and was unable to get out on her own. Thanks to the actions of Firefighter Ambs the female driver's life was saved.

On Monday, October 14, 2019, Firefighter Ambs was honored by Plymouth Council when they passed citation 10-004 in recognition of Firefighter Ambs's heroic actions. Ambs received a standing ovation from all in attendance. Ambs is a member of Harmonville Fire Company.
