On the agenda (read it here) for Plymouth Township Council on Monday, December 9, 2019, at 7 pm a variety of issues, most importantly the 2020 real estate tax rate ordinance. According to the agenda and proposed ordinance, Council will vote on a 1.6 mill rate for 2020 which, if approved, would keep the tax rate the same for the coming year. What will change is an increase in the Fire tax each property owner pays, this rate will increase from .56 Millage to .72 Millage. You can view the proposed tax rates here.
Council will also adopt the new comprehensive plan, known as Plymouth 2040. Residents were asked to submit feedback before November 22, 2019. This plan has been in the works for a few years and will bring Plymouth into a new era of official planning.
Council will also consider the ordinance for Civil Service Commission. This Ordinance will appoint 5 members each to a six-year term. Members must be voting residents of the Township and are voted in by the Council. View the Ordinance here.
Most notably not on the Agenda is a vote to move forward with Township Building renovations/rebuild or the sale of the Township's sewer system, which we previously wrote about the disastrous rate increases paid by residents of other Townships who have sold their systems, read the article here. The Council did receive a full briefing from Architectural firm KCBA Architects, D’Huy Engineering according to the Agenda for their December 2, 2019, Executive Workshop. There is no indication if they voted on anything there, but I guess we may find out at the meeting on 12/9/19.
