Update: Whitpain Township police issued an update on the BEAR at 12:22 pm stating that after further investigation what was believed to be a bear is actually not a bear and the public is in no danger.

As we go about our day ghouls and goblins are not the only ones we need to be on the lookout for. A bear was sighted in the vicinity of Mermaid Lake on Wednesday, October 30. If you see the bear, please do not approach, follow or in any way interact with the bear, call 911 and alert authorities.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission has been notified and a Game Warden is attempting to locate the bear.
You may remember recently a bear spent several days in this area eventually making its way down to the Roxborough area before being captured. Social media was abuzz with updated locations yet the bear remained elusive for several days.
